Skip 2B Fit
On Thursday 9 May the children were involved in a challenge called Skip 2B Fit. All the classes had a session with an instructor. One of the activities they had to do was skip for 2 minutes and see how many skips they could do. Here are some quotes from a few of the children:
"I liked that you could make the ropes shorter or longer to suit you." (Jacob)
"I enjoyed all of it." (Sebastian)
"I like that I keep beating my score." (Maisie)
"I liked the skipping and the colour of the ropes." (Thomas)

Cricket Workshop
We had a visit from Somerset County Cricket this month to introduce the children to the skills of cricket. The children had an assembly with them and this was followed up by a workshop for Years 1/2 and years 3/4.

Millfield Sports Festival
A group of Year 5/6 children went to Millfield for a Primary Sports Festival to experience activities that they wouldn't normally come across in primary school. They had a go at Rowing, throwing javelins and activity similar to laser tag. They all had a very enjoyable time.

Change for Life Sports Club
This is an innovative programme that harnesses the inspiration of the London 2012 Olympic Games, to encourage less active young people to do physical activity and engage in school sport.
This takes place on a Monday afternoon during school time. This a chance for students from Year 5 & 6 to help set up and instruct short sporting activities to small groups of Year 3 & 4 students. They also learn to be role organisers; fair play officers - looking for values/spirit i.e. sporting spirit; and warm up/cool down leaders.
Below are a few pictures of what the children have been up to recently.
