At St. Margaret’s, we are a fully inclusive school. Our aim is for all pupils to achieve their potential personally, socially, emotionally and academically in all areas of the curriculum. We are small village school that has recently incorporated a brand-new purpose-built therapy suite that includes a disabled toilet, accessible shower and space for a changing bed. The building is on one level and can be accessed via ramps at the front and rear of the school. Close to the playground we also have a Learning Lodge that can be utilised as a classroom or as an ELSA room. Our staff are all very nurturing and knowledgeable with a wealth of experience supporting children in all aspects of Special Educational Needs.
All Somerset maintained schools have a similar approach to meeting the needs of pupils with special educational needs and are supported by the Local Authority to ensure that all pupils, regardless of their specific needs, make the best possible progress in school. We are committed to supporting pupils with needs in all four broad areas of the SEND Code of Practice: Cognition and Learning, Communication and Interaction, Social and emotional mental health and Sensory and/or Physical needs.
The SEND information report highlights how we identify, support and assess pupils with SEND to ensure they make progress academically, socially and emotionally.
