Hi all, Hope you have had a good week and that you are all well and remaining sane! Please let me know if you have any issues or if you struggle to understand something, I am always here to help. Maths – Keep practising your times tables! The worksheets for White Rose Maths are no longer on the website, so you can find them attached below. You may still wish to watch the videos so please still follow the link. Year 1 - https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-1/ Year 2 - https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-2/ Please start with summer term, week 7, lessons 1-4. Record the answers in your maths book. You don’t necessarily need to write the questions out, unless the adult teaching you wants you to, as it may be easier to mark. The worksheets are fairly simple so I would suggest doing some work practically. This will help with understanding. EXTRA (optional) – I have added mastery sheets for both year 1 and year 2, for those of you who find the work easy and want to push yourselves, feel free to have a go. Phonics – please follow the link: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCP_FbjYUP_UtldV2K_-niWw/featured?disable_polymer=1 Literacy – This week we are going to be looking at the story ‘Dear Zoo’. Follow the link and watch the video: Watch the clip and look at the front cover. Has anyone ever visited the Zoo before? What animals did you see? Can you describe the animal as much as possible?
Day2 – WALT understand how to write our address using capital letters. Each child will need a blank postcard – see resource. Using resource 2a (if you have one) place the letter in an envelope addressed to child. Show the letter to them, noting (highlight) with them that a capital letter has been used for people and place names. Open the letter noting the features again and highlighting these. Who has written the letter? Why are they writing? What do we know about the animal now?
Day 3 – WALT write in the past tense. (this is a practise for tomorrows letter) Adult prepare a bag of objects or photos to suggest activities you like doing. Talk about what you did last week (use past tense). I went on my bike and rode through a muddy puddle. Practise writing a postcard together to a family member or school. Begin with Dear and then pick someone’s name. Start writing a postcard about something you enjoyed and invite children to use your props to remind you of each sentence.
Day 4 – WALT write a persuasive letter Return to ‘Dear Zoo’. Ask children to remind you what animals are in the story. Read the first page and ask children why the author wrote to the zoo: is he asking for something? Saying thank you for something? Or Telling them something? Explain that they will try and write a letter to the zoo asking for a new pet for our classroom, e.g. Please can you send me a long, stripey snake with sharp fangs and a rattling tail?
