Hi all, I hope you have had a lovely bank holiday weekend. I have had a lot of feedback about the recent online learning I had set, I just wanted to thank you as without the feedback I don’t know how you are getting on. I have made the decision to go back to how I planned the lessons previously as this seemed to be a lot more enjoyable for both children and parents. Any issues please email me. Maths – Keep practising your times tables! We will be going back to following the White Rose planning. You might find we have done some of the work before, but that is ok, it will help us revise. Year 1 - https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-1/ Year 2 - https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-2/ Please start with summer term, week 3, lessons 1-5. Please record the answers in your maths book. You don’t necessarily need to write the questions out, unless the adult teaching you wants you to, as it may be easier to mark. Make sure you are still working on your presentation (mums and dads, keep sending pictures of their work) There are also answers so either a parent can check your work, or you can check the answers. Please let me know via email or comment below so I know how you have got on. Phonics – please follow the link: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCP_FbjYUP_UtldV2K_-niWw/featured?disable_polymer=1 Literacy - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tYa6OLQHrEc&index=36&list=PLQcXqHozyJEps13FCbQmR5YTTGlOClFGF This week we are going to watch a book being read called ‘Caterpillar Shoes’. (All work to be completed in your books, don’t forget capital letters, full stops and finger spaces!) Day 1 – Watch the film and give children scrap paper to write down any rhyming words that they hear whilst watching the film. Discuss the rhyming words.
Day2 – Watch the film again. Talk about the different characters in the story. Use resources 2a and 2b to support children if needed (expanded noun phrases in red, verbs in green)
Day 3 – Describe a character
Day 4 – use drama to understand and remember the sequence of a story. Can your child retell the story without prompts? Can they remember the order that the caterpillar met all his friends? Then, replay the film ‘Caterpillar shoes’ and revisit the animal greeting timeline. Did they remember everything? Yr1/2 – (to be done with the family) – Children retell the story of caterpillar shoes taking on the role of a character and appropriately interacting to move the story forward. Emphasise good role play!(please take pictures or a short video, I would love to see some acting) Day 5 – recount the events in a story. Use resource 5a as an example! Revisit the story map that you created. Children will be writing the story of Caterpillar Shoes. The story needs to be written in the past tense, character descriptions (can be taken from previous work), chronological order and a range of sentence openers. Yr1 – Children tell the story in the correct order using sentences that make sense. Children to focus on meeting two creatures. Yr2 – Children retell the story in correct order including character detail. Please consider sentences openers to move the story forward and attempt to use some for the grammar they have been practising from the week. Art – Draw a Caterpillar - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dG4rgasW6sg You could draw the caterpillar on top of a twig with leaves or in the grass if you want to make it fancy. You could even give it different shoes! Geography lesson 2– Around our continents Go through the powerpoint and learn about the different continents. You can then create a continents booklet with interesting facts. You can put capital cities on the map itself and write down some interesting facts.(parents, if you want me to print this please email me and I will have the school print it out, so that you can collect it) ICT – Study ladder activities French –Carry on with naming animals, can you name three different animals? ![]()
