This week our story and our learning is based around the story of The Snail and the Whale! What do you want to see? What would you take with you? Pack your suitcase with all the things you would take. Make a list in case you forget anything! I would take a camera! What else? Count how many things you have thought of. Activity – draw and cut out the things that are in your suitcase. Design a suitcase to put them in. I love flamingos because they can stand on one leg and they are so pink! Numeracy Cotton bud spirals Make your fingers extra funky with making dots on your spiral. Literacy - Write a story about anything. It could be about a fly that escapes the spider, a ladybird that gets lost or a ladybird that has lost its spots! Yesterday was ...? Tomorrow will be ...? The day after tomorrow will be ...? What days are in the weekend? There are two days. Can you say all the days of the week in the correct order? Phonics to start. Literacy - practise writing the sound that you have learnt. Write as many words as you can think of with that sound in. Then choose one word and use it in a sentence. Remember what does a sentence begin with and end in? Dont forget finger spaces and try to write on the line. Numeracy - Spider maths! How many different ways can you make 10? (Number bonds to 10 = 1 and 9, 2 and 8, 3 and 7 etc) Use a ten frame to help you (slide 9) Adults - please draw a frame like the one in the slide. Use 10 objects to represent the spiders. Your child can then use the frame to help them takeway the washed away spiders and then count how many are left. Literacy - Plan and decorate a menu for a VE Stay at Home Street Party this friday. Try to include Bunting and the Union Jack flag on your design. Include what you would like to drink and eat. Have a look on the internet for songs that people sang in World War 2. Ask your adult to help you on the internet. Maths - Fruit Bowl Maths! Explore your fruit bowl and look at what's in it! How we can sort it? What groups have you got in there? How can you combine these to make some maths problems? Talking Together Make a list of your favourite fruits. What will be number 1? Could you work out which fruit is the most popular in your house? Which fruit will be the winner? Is all your fruit in the bowl? I hope there isn’t any evil fruit in the freezer! Caterpillar Lunch The hungry caterpillar eats far too much. Have some fun working out how many things he ate on 2 different days! Combine groups to make a lunch for a growing caterpillar.
