The Curriculum
At St. Margaret's Church of England VA Primary School we believe in offering a broad and balanced curriculum which is rich in experiences and is exciting.
As in other state schools, St Margaret’s follow the National Curriculum meeting the 2014 statutory requirements. This means they follow the nationally agreed programs of study in all curriculum areas. Where appropriate, cross curricular links are made to enhance the relevance of the work the children do. In addition to these subjects, Personal and Social Education, Health Education, Environmental Education, Equal Opportunities, Multicultural Education and Citizenship, are also included in the curriculum.
Through our curriculum we aim to be:
Subject leaders, monitoring and review
We have subject leaders who monitor the planning and delivery of the curriculum, providing strategic direction for the subject, and monitoring the progress of the children. They also have responsibility to resource and manage the subject.
The curriculum is reviewed regularly and reported to the Governing Body to monitor the implementation of the curriculum.
How we organise learning
Children follow a topic based approach to learning which covers all areas of the National Curriculum. Our topic work is based on a two year rolling program due to mixed age classes. Children are encouraged to bring in items from home to enrich their learning. We also encourage parents to support their children's learning by keeping them regularly informed of what the children are being taught and their child's progress.

Collective Worship and Assembly
Each half term we use a Christian value as a focus around which we base our collective worship.
Each day includes an act of worship that reflects our Christian tradition and ideals. The local church is used around the year for a variety of celebrations. It is intended that our pupils should also gain some awareness and understanding of other world religions and cultures within the context of Religious Education lessons.
