Our class teacher is Mrs Bailey-Jones, supported by Mrs Simmonds, Mrs Buckhurst and Miss Russ
Creators Class is a mixed class with our Year 5 & 6 children.
Literacy:
This term we will be studying a range of books. We will be covering: Moth - an evolution story, Tuesday, Orphans of the Tide and The Dog that saved Christmas.
We will be continuing to focus on our grammar, looking at a range of different punctuation such as dashes, commas and brackets and using them accurately. We will also look at informal and formal speech and identify when these are appropriate to be used.
We shall be writing diary entries, newspaper reports, non-chronological reports, balanced arguments, poems and stories.
Maths:
We will be starting off the year looking at solving equations by using our knowledge of how they are formed. This means we will be looking at bar models and part whole representations to help us to understand the equation before solving it. We will then by looking at multiplying using the power of 10 ( x10, x100 and x1000). We will look at place value of numbers upto 10 million, looking at the value of each digit. Finally before Christmas we will be looking at drawing, composing and decomposing shapes.
This is in addition to our morning maths where we will be looking at various arithmetic questions, increasing our speed and accuracy with these.
We have Forest School on Tuesdays and PE on Mondays and Tuesdays. Please remember to bring in kits for these days.
